Wakefield Street runs through the heart of the Hawthorn Campus of Swinburne University. The redevelopment aimed to re-envision Wakefield Street as a central hub for students and the community alike.
Key elements of the works included soft landscaping, services infrastructure, irrigation, lighting systems to feature planters, landscape furniture and a mix of pavement finishes works (exposed aggregate concrete, bluestone tiling and asphalt). The project encountered many complexities including contaminated soil, soft spots and lowering of authority services.
The project was completed on time, prior to the University’s open day, which was a great result for Swinburne University.
