The Melbourne Assessment Prison located on Spencer Street, West Melbourne is a maximum security facility for the assessment and orientation services for all male prisoners received into the prison system.

The project involved the demolition and refurbishment of 56 existing prison cells in line with BDRP cell safety standards, including the installation of upgraded cell doors, single and double beds, room and bed lights, hand basins, toilets, shower screens, benches, and shelves.

As the works were completed inside the operational prison, heavily coordinated risk management procedures were implemented.
