The MCC Kew Sports Club, located in the heart of Kew, is comprised of three bowling greens, six tennis courts, and clubhouse facilities for club members and the local community.
During the 6-month bowling off-season in 2013, the existing MCC Clubhouse was extended and refurbished, including the redevelopment of the existing carpark and landscaping.
The external façade was completely redesigned and features a mix of alucobond cladding, shiplap timber cladding, feature iron bark posts and an engineered glass canopy roof.
With high-level finishes as a priority for the MCC, long lead times on certain fixtures and fittings and programming of the works was imperative to ensure a seamless flow of work onsite. The inclusion of a lift to provide access to the upstairs function centre was also of importance to the MCC; a feature that also required detailed programming to meet the completion date.
Prior to works commencing, a preliminary investigation of the facility was completed to highlight potential cost risks caused by working on the existing structure, and a plan was prepared to reduce these risks.
