The Botanica Springs Children’s and Community Centre was developed to meet the needs of the fast-growing Shire of Melton. The state-of-the-art facility consists of three kindergartens, a childcare centre, maternal health facilities, staff offices, and communal spaces for the public.
Located on a heritage-protected site at Clarkes Road in Brookfield, specific management plans and induction procedures were developed and implemented throughout the project due to the presence of aboriginal artefacts.
Internally, materials and colour diversity are maintained throughout the building through the use of different carpet themes, ecophon ceiling tiles in various colours, and supawood ceiling beams. The façade of the building is comprised of a base combination of texture rendered hebel powerpanel and bagged painted brickwork, with horizontal grating screens, feature artedomus tile cladding, longspan roof sheeting and various types of timber linings further enhancing the façade.
The myriad of finishes and associated long lead times made supplier coordination and ordering of materials a key point of focus for the project team.
Working under an exceptionally tight timeframe, construction of the facility was successfully completed in December 2014, in time for operation at the beginning of 2015.
