The Transition Support Unit constructed within the Austin Hospital provides services for patients with complex mental illnesses, an intellectual disability, or an acquired brain injury to improve their independent living skills.
The Transition Support Unit consists of 13 patient bedrooms with private bathrooms, complemented by lounging areas, a sensory room, consultation rooms, courtyards, and adequate facilities for staff and visitors.
As part of the works, the car park directly adjacent to the existing Austin Hospital Critical Care Unit building was demolished and a new crossover from Waterdale Road into the existing car park was constructed.
