Since its opening in 2006, the Boroondara Sports Complex in Balwyn North became a highly popular facility within the community. To continue offering top-tier amenities, the complex was significantly expanded, merging with the adjacent Balwyn Leisure Centre.
As part of the redevelopment, the existing car park and administration building were demolished to make way for a new two-level extension with a public entrance. This extension houses a multi-purpose indoor basketball/netball court, a group fitness room, a health club, various program rooms, a crèche, and new amenities and change rooms, complemented by a newly constructed car park and landscaped grounds.
Throughout the construction, the existing facilities within Balwyn Leisure Centre continued to operate with minimal disruption to its users.
