The Victorian Government identified the need for new schools to service for the ever-growing population in the State, including schools designed specifically for children with additional needs and intellectual disabilities. The new Endeavour Hills Specialist School accommodates these students and provides them with state-of-the-art facilities and appropriate support to meet their needs.
The project was delivered under a Design and Construct contract, with the new school constructed on the 55,000m2 site of the former Endeavour Hills Secondary College, which closed in 2012. The facilities at the school includes:
- Two early years learning neighbourhoods, two middle years learning neighbourhoods, and a senior years learning neighbourhood. Each neighbourhood includes two specialist spaces; a dry lab for media and communications, drama and physical activities, and a wet lab is for art, science, home-craft and technology studies.
- A community hub building with a competition-grade gymnasium, a fitness area, space for performing music and art, a multi-purpose space, a food preparation kitchen and dining, and student and staff amenities.
- An administration building with a library, administration areas, meeting rooms and staff facilities.
- Outdoor play areas including playgrounds, a full-sized hardcourt, three half-sized hardcourts, a Victoria Federation-sized soccer pitch, and a horticulture space.
- Car parking, a dedicated drop-off and pick-up zone, bus turning circle and connected bus shelter, and four mini-bus parking bays.
We are delighted to have delivered this project in collaboration with the VSBA, Johnstaff and Architectus, with whom we completed the New Schools 2021 – Bundle 1 project.
