The Swinburne Library Expansion Project at the Hawthorn Campus was a 6 level, library refurbishment and fit-out which was completed across 5 stages in coordination with the University’s occupancy requirements. The library expansion has the potential to increase seating within the building by 450 places which would bring the total number of seats to over 1,500.  The group study space on level three will be doubled along with two quiet study floors.

The different stages consist of:

Stage 1-   Levels 7 & 6: Full fit-out refurbishment including significant upgrade of mechanical and electrical services, internal partitioning and closing in an existing balcony.

Stage 2 – Level 5: Full fit-out and refurbishment including significant upgrade of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services, internal partitioning and a feature timber veneer ceiling.

Stage 3 – Level 4: Full fit-out and refurbishment including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services, internal partitioning and a feature timber veneer ceiling.

Stage 4 – Level 3: Full fit-out and refurbishment including significant upgrade of mechanical and electrical services and internal partitioning.

Stage 5 – Level 2: Replace existing carpet and a new paint finish to existing area.
