In 2011 Ireland Brown Constructions were engaged to complete the demolition and refurbishment of 56 existing cells within two units (Spencer & Latrobe) at Melbourne Assessment Prison. The upgrade works were to meet the exacting standards of the Government‘s Building Design Review Programme (BDRP).

The Cellular fit-out works include the installation of:

  • Cell DoorsCell Beds (Single & Double)
  • Hand Basins & Toilets
  • Cell Lights (Room and Bed Lights)
  • Shower screens, Benches and Shelves

The works were completed inside an operational prison. IBC were required to complete and implement heavily coordinated risk management procedures as part of this contract and all installations were required to be BDRP compliant
