Ireland Brown Constructions was engaged in the construction of a new bus interchange to accommodate the new custom designed fleet of safari bus’ and increased patron numbers.
The new Safari Station is a standalone structure with associated landscape, civil and site servicing works. The construction and fit-out works included the erection of structural steel and timber framing, block-work and the installation of reclaimed, rustic timber cladding to create the large undercover pavilion. A complex remote operated automatic gate and turnstile system has been incorporated into the building.
All works were undertaken within a fully operational zoo facility. The location of the site along the main bus route required careful consideration and planned traffic management to ensure safety to the public and the animals at all times.
