Fulham Correctional Centre is located approximately 11km west of Sale, Victoria.  The expansion works were approved by the Victorian State Government to assist in managing the growth in Victoria’s prison population.  The expansion has seen the medium-security men’s prison increase its capacity from 893 prisoners to approximately 1,000 prisoners.  

The project involved: 

New Buildings and Facilities  

  • 35-Bed Management Unit
  • 102-Bed Cell Block
  • Multipurpose Activity Hub
  • Landscaping
  • Central Movement Control (including opioid substitution therapy program space (OSTP)
  • Prisoner Shop

Reconfigured, Relocated and Extensions Buildings  

  • Extend and reconfigure the Kitchen and Laundry storage (Kitchen and Laundry)
  • Reconfigure existing Prisoner Shop into a new TAFE Kitchen (TAFE Kitchen)
  • Extend the Main Reception (Main Reception)  
  • Extend the Car Park (Car Park)  
  • Relocate the existing Sporting Oval (Sporting Oval)  
  • Relocate the OSTP and refurbish into offices (OSTP)  
  • Reconfigure the Health Centre (Health Centre) 

Temporary Buildings  

  • Temporary Health Centre

Building Services and Infrastructure  

  • Installation and commissioning of building services and site infrastructure
  • Upgrade and commissioning of existing building services and site infrastructure
  • Enclosing the existing substation (Substation) (outside FCC perimeter)
