The project involved the renovation and refurbishment of an existing sporting complex and the construction of a new Community Centre and Library adjacent to the gymnasium, including a complete re-cladding of the exterior to create a uniform visual relationship between the two buildings.

The gymnasium underwent extensive works including asbestos removal, partial demolition, new roof and external metal cladding, new vinyl flooring, refurbishment of amenities, and new fittings and fixtures.

The construction of the new Community Centre included architectural sawtooth roof design, metal external wall cladding, feature entrance walls and operable internal walls, and houses office spaces and meeting rooms, flexible learning spaces including computer terminals for public use, and a community library.

Externally, civil works and infrastructure works included the installation of roadways, carparks, and landscaping.

The project was managed closely by Coffey Projects and Ireland Brown Constructions with close liaison with the Mooney Valley City Council to complete the project on time, on budget and in accordance with the expectations of Skills Victoria and H2o Architects.
