Ireland Brown Constructions were engaged to construct the Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre (Stages 4, 5 & 6) project. With the construction being approximately 4,000m², the works included the demolition of an existing pool plant building and existing single storey gymnasium/administration rooms.
Following on from this was the construction of the extension to the pool plant room with new pool plant and multi storey gymnasium/administration rooms, dry programming room complex, with a connecting elevated pedestrian sky bridge to a re-worked car park area and the refurbishment of the existing indoor pool hall and an extension of a new indoor warm water pool.
Finally an outdoor splash and play area will be constructed, along with a new driveway entrance and landscaped areas. Numerous trades will be involved, with detailed coordination involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pool specialist trades, in the completion of the project over various programmed construction stages.
The centre remained operational throughout the construction programme.
