Ireland Brown Constructions has been engaged by Alfred Health to undertake the demolition and refurbishment of level 6 of the Alfred Hospital’s Main Block as part of the Burns Unit upgrade.
The Burns Unit Refurbishment includes the following general scope of works:
- Extensive demolition of existing services, identified walls, ceilings and floor coverings
- Installation of new wall and floor linings, partitions and ceilings
- Aluminium framing and glazing
- Installation of joinery
- Supply and installation of new services including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, nurse call and medical gases.
The project required extensive co-ordination of construction works with neighbouring floors, patients, staff and hospital stakeholders to ensure that daily operations have proceeded without disruption, particularly in regards to noise control and site access. High levels of dust control and waste management have also been implemented to maintain hospital hygiene and sanitation standards.
