Ireland Brown Constructions completed the National Training Areas and Ranges Improvement Programme (NTARIP) Works Package No.12 for the Victorian Department of Defence that included works within the following three base sites:
Puckapunyal Training Area (located approximately 110km North of Melbourne)
Upgrade of the infrastructure which involved extensive civil works, range rectification and demolition. The construction of new access roads, targets and weapons range to encompass static grenade range with control towers. Further to this, battle sheds access gates with fencing and environmental toilet blocks was positioned around the base for military exercises.
HMAS Cerberus Training Area (located approximately 70km South-East of Melbourne, near Crib Point, Western Port Bay)
Works involved road infrastructure rectification, site wide drainage/irrigation upgrades and miscellaneous training area upgrades. This included extending an existing timber fence line along the south western edge between Pistol Range 1 and the Marksmanship Training Range, as well as providing new concrete access paths over existing gravel pathways to both 25m Pistol Ranges 1 and 2.
Dutson Air Weapons Range (located approximately 30km South-East of East Sale)
This base site required the demolition of the existing pyrotechnics concrete blockhouse, construction of a boat ramp access track, upgrade existing firing mounds, target bank, mantlet and reconstruction of the stop butt.
