Ireland Brown Constructions completed a design/contract multi-storey building in Camberwell in 2013. The site area is 550m2 and the new building occupies the entire site over four levels.
The building comprises of a ground level car park with a further three levels, each boasting full perimeter natural light and new, modern amenities with bathrooms, kitchens and shower facilities. The Ground level includes the entrance foyer, cleaners room, plant room and the car park which show cases 13 car stackers, imported out of Germany.
A kone elevator services all four levels and the building is also supported by a front and rear stair case.
The structural design included screw piles and ground beams to form the sub base structure. Coming out of the ground, the lifts shaft and both fire escapes where built using precast panels. To satisfy town planning requirements, a red brick pattern was cast into the panels. Each floor level was constructed using a combination of off form concrete columns, suspended concrete slabs which also incorporated bondeck and conventional formwork. Each slab was post tensioned. On the third level a structural steel portal frame was built to allow for a clear span floor space.
The façade of the building is a combination of aluminium glazed windows and alucobond. The window frames were constructed locally and the glass was imported from China.
Internally, a complete fitout on level 3 has taken place which has adopted many modern day features including state of the art security and access control, lighting control, AV and information technology.
The whole building is served by high level security, automated mechanical systems and a Le Grande Lighting control system.
