PROJECT NAME: CSIRO Consolidation – Building 3&4 Fit-out Clayton
PROJECT ADDRESS: 71 Normanby Road, Clayton
CLIENT: Croxon Ramsay – Andrew Croxon
PROJECT VALUE: $4.2 Million
PROJECT TIMEFRAME: January 2011 – December 2011
BRIEF PROJECT SUMMARY:
Ireland Brown Constructions were engaged for the CESRE consolidation works to Building 3 & 4.
Building 3
Works involved the careful demolition of an existing laboratory prior to the high-end fit-out works required for the new general offices and administration area.
The existing goods lift was demolished to make way for the installation of a new personnel lift servicing 6 levels. This required technical structural demolition followed by the installation of a core filled block work shaft penetrating the existing concrete roof. In addition to this the existing fly tower required extensive structural rectification due to its dilapidated state.
Building 4
This existing warehouse was refurbished to technical research areas and associated offices. The main component of this location of works was the installation of a specialised gas system including 38 different types of gases requiring integrated shutdown systems and safety infrastructure.
In addition IBC were required to design and procure an Isoloader which is a specialised relocating machine to facilitate CSIRO’s requirements to regularly relocate 20ft shipping containers into and around Building 4.
This proved to be a challenging project given the age and dilapidated state of the building along with working in a live environment where testing and experiments were ongoing by the CSIRO scientists during the construction works.
